Find the right Google Place ID
A familiar business name is not enough when several branches share it. Use the address and the destination to confirm which listing belongs on your card.
Start with a specific search
Open the Finder and choose Search by name. Include the business name and its town, district or street. For a chain, add the branch name rather than searching only for the brand. Compare the displayed address before selecting a result. A rating can help distinguish results, but it does not prove you have found the correct branch.
For example, if your shop is in Cainta, include Cainta in the search. If two results look similar, open each listing in Google Maps and compare its street and map location. Do not use a neighbouring listing simply because the name matches. Selecting a business uses your allowance; take a moment to compare the search results first.
Use a Maps link or an existing Place ID
If you already have the correct Google Maps listing open, copy its share link and use Paste a Maps link in the Finder. A business listing link is more useful than a link to a route or a general map area. If a link cannot be resolved, open it in Google Maps, check that it shows a single listing and try a fresh share link. You can also search by the name and address instead.
When you have an ID from another source, choose Place ID and paste only the identifier. A Place ID is not the whole review URL and is not the same as a numeric CID. Google documents Place IDs as identifiers for locations in its Places database; their lengths can vary, and an ID may change over time. Read Google's Place ID documentation.
Choose the link for the task
Open place is for someone who needs to find the business in Google Maps. Open review page is for someone who wants to leave a review. In Share, choose Share place link or Share review link before copying or sharing. Sending a place link is useful when a customer asks where you are; sending the review link is useful after their visit.
Test both buttons yourself. Check the displayed business name and address. The review destination may ask the visitor to sign in to Google. GetPlaceID does not sign them in, submit a review for them or guarantee the same Google screen on every phone. Avoid adding a rating requirement to the invitation.
If a result is missing or wrong
Try a shorter search containing the business name and locality. Check the spelling and whether the listing has moved, changed its name or closed. Use the current listing in Google Maps rather than a saved old link. Google says obsolete IDs can stop resolving and recommends refreshing stored IDs older than twelve months. A successful search today is a reason to test your final destination, not a reason to skip testing it later.
If GetPlaceID displays an allowance message, searching again will not unlock another selection. Sign in to use your account allowance, or return when the displayed daily allowance resets. If the service displays a temporary error, keep your current artwork and try again later instead of repeatedly selecting businesses. For an unresolved problem, use Contact and include the listing name, the public Maps link and the message you saw. Do not send your password or sign-in code.
Before you print
Open the final link from another phone, check the branch address and save the correct URL with your artwork. Recheck the destination after a move or major listing change. Continue with our QR card and NFC preparation guide for the artwork and physical-card checks.
